This post about Valentine’s Day 2017 contains sponsored links to gifts I love and I think you will too.
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. The scent of love has already been faintly drifting through the air for quite some time now. However, while this holiday is traditionally for lovers I’ve found some ways that anyone could celebrate it. If you’re happily in love, looking for a fun night out, wanting to show someone a little kindness, or seeking a sweet treat for yourself, keep reading. I’m sure you’ll find some inspiration here.
All the Ways I Would Love to Celebrate Valentine’s Day 2017
A Nice Dinner and a Show
La Bodega is a celebration of delicious Spanish food, lifestyle and the traditions of Northern Spain. This traditional way of eating in Spain brings food and socializing with friends together. Such tradition also occurs with each meal at La Bodega, located in Kansas City, MO. My favorite time to dine there is during their amazing daily happy hour from 2-6 pm. In fact, it should be called the happiest hour! What I have been craving, in particular, is their Zarzuelo de Mariscos. It’s a Spanish version of cioppino with saffron rice, PEI mussels, clams, shrimp and chorizo with sofrito, in a spicy fish stock.
One of my bucket list items is a show at The Murder Mystery Co. Murder-mystery dinners begin innocently enough. Guests arrive and mingle amid drinks and quiet conversation. As diners munch away, a sudden death interrupts the feasting. A detective comes on the scene to determine who the killer is, inevitably laying blame on one of the audience members. Table mates work together to prove their innocence and find the real killer through an interactive performance full of hilarious suspects and eye-catching costumes. All the while dining on the included three-course meal and taking advantage of drink specials.
A Good Glass of Wine
Winc connects you to a world of exclusive wines tailored to your tastes and delivered to your door. Their story began in 2012 when they founded Club W: the world’s first personalized wine club. They made the process of discovering and buying wine easier than ever. Rather than constantly searching for great deals and tastes like other wine clubs, Winc sources wines from exceptional vineyards and works with great winemakers from around the world. Because their focus is on smaller lots, they can work to tease out the highest quality and most distinct character from each lot. These wines are only sold through the club, not anywhere else.
Membership to Winc is free! Getting started takes 4 easy steps. Step 1. A palate profile of six questions helps determine which wines you are likely to prefer. Step 2. You’ll select your wines based on a list of recommendations. (Get $20 off your first order!) Step 3. Sit back and wait for your wines to arrive. Step 4. Review wines you’ve enjoyed or not enjoyed to refine your recommendations. Winc is also offering 4 bottles for $30 + free shipping until 2/12/17.
A Charcuterie and Cheese Board to Go with the Wine
I’ve been a member of Thrive Market for several months. I love the foods they offer and what they stand for. Thrive Market is a membership community that uses the power of direct buying to deliver healthy food and natural products at wholesale prices. Plus every membership allows Thrive Market to sponsor free memberships for low-income families in America. Memberships are $59.95 annually. However, Thrive Market offers a 30 day free trial with 15% off your first purchase.
If you decide to become a member of Thrive Market or you already are one, you should take some time to read through their food blog. They have amazing stories on the benefits of healthy foods, delicious recipes, and inspiring posts about how to get cooking in your own kitchen. I found this gem on charcuterie boards and I can’t wait to try it at home! Here’s a link to the article: 5 Key Components to the Ultimate Cheese and Charcuterie Board.
A Weekend Getaway
My top choice for a long Valentine’s Day weekend would be exploring San Francisco. And the best way to make sure I get the most out of my vacation would be with a CityPASS.
CityPASS bundles prepaid admission to the most popular attractions in top cities across North America, at hugely discounted prices. (Depending on the city, savings is up to 54% off what it would cost to buy each admission separately.) Plus each CityPASS booklet is good for nine days from use of first ticket, so there’s no need to feel you have to rush. Here is what the San Francisco CityPASS includes:
- California Academy of Sciences
- Blue & Gold Fleet Bay Cruise Adventure
- Exploratorium or de Young Museum
- Aquarium of the Bay or Monterey Bay Aquarium
- Unlimited Rides on Muni Buses and Cable Cars
As if that wasn’t enough, most booklets also contain great discounts for shopping, restaurants, and more. CityPASS is available in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Southern California, Tampa Bay, and Toronto. If you’re planning a trip to any of these cities, using CityPASS would definitely be a smart way to go! But don’t wait too long to grab one or two! CityPASS prices are scheduled to increase on March 1, 2017.
